How to register to vote

Who can register

You can register as a voter if you are:

• a Kenyan citizen, and
• at least 18 years old.

What you need

Your national ID or Kenyan passport to prove who you are.

Where to go

Registration is done at IEBC registration centres, usually set up near your ward. Registration happens during announced periods, so watch for the dates.

Before election day

• Check that your details are correct so you are not turned away.
• Find your polling station in advance.

Why it matters

Registering is the first step to voting. Your vote is secret, and it is your right as a citizen. (Article 38)
